In the famous words of Will Smith, Welcome to Miami! It’s Florida Derby Week at Gulfstream and we’re coming down the home stretch of the Kentucky Derby Prep Race Season.

With the smell of spring in the Kentucky air, it can only mean one thing for a Louisvillian like me: the Kentucky Derby is around the corner. As we sit here roughly 44 days away from the first Saturday in May, I can’t help but smile thinking about the festivities ahead in the coming weeks.

Man, am I glad that there is only one Derby Prep Race this weekend. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing I love more than a Saturday filled with reading racing forms

The time is finally here, G1 Breeders Cup Juvenile winner Forte makes his return after an extensive layoff. The infamous Fountain of Youthat Gulfstream Park attracts a field of 10 horses this year, and it’ll be extremely interesting to see if Forte can outclass his opponents in the last prep race for the 2023 Florida Derby.
